Urge Congress to Save After-School Programs
President Trump released a budget proposal in March that would eliminate the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program. This program funds after-school programs for high-poverty schools – providing a safe place for kids to go after school.
The 21st Century Community Learning Centers program helps kids like Brooklyn from Kentucky have a safe and enriching place to go after school. The after-school program at her elementary school is helping to close the achievement gap by helping kids with reading and math. As a result of the after-school program, her school experienced a dramatic improvement in student performance.
If President Trump’s budget is enacted, Brooklyn and her friends may not have a safe place to go after school and could start falling behind their peers. Ask your members of Congress to oppose the elimination of this program.
